The study also found that the prevalence of hypertension is higher in women than men, and that it increases with age.The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the global prevalence of hypertension is around 30%. However, the prevalence in Africa is higher, at around 40%. Nigeria is one of the countries with the highest prevalence of hypertension in Africa.
